The idea behind the final article on the 2020 Saturn Pluto cycle is to flesh out the three models of Firdaria, profections and solar returns using David’s natal chart as these are all older techniques from a much earlier time, and may not be familiar to the modern astrologer.

Within the next six months Saturn will meet Pluto to begin a new synodic cycle. To understand its effect in the solar return chart we must first introduce another time-lord technique known as profections, from the base word profectio meaning ‘going away’ or ‘casting out’ or ‘departure’. Profections will highlight a particular planet in the solar return chart which will personalize the Saturn Pluto conjunction, making the experience different for each one of us.

For the first time in living memory, Saturn will meet Pluto in the sign of Capricorn. The exact conjunction will be achieved on 12th January 2020, but you would be right in thinking that the combined energy is already upon us, as Saturn has been creeping ever closer to Pluto over the past few months....

Titanic: A Modern Myth

One hundred and seven years ago on the 14th April 1912, at 11:40 pm, the then-largest and most luxurious ship the world had ever known struck an iceberg in the North Atlantic and sank.  The story of the Titanic and its sinking has given rise to many myths and stories over time,...

Hollywood is the last place one would go looking for a scientist or an inventor.  It is a place where people are famous more for their looks than their talent.  Hedy Lamarr was no exception: at the peak of her popularity she was the most popular pin-up for American GI’s during World War II and MGM head, Louis B Mayer dubbed her “the most beautiful girl in the world.”    But Lamarr had a secret;.....

Over the years, I have always promised myself an opportunity to study the charts of famous people who share, by an accident of birth, a ‘twin’ -- someone who shares planetary placements and configurations.  Scrolling through databases we will find unusual pairings but for the purposes of this article I wanted to explore these ‘astrological twins’ from the perspective not so much of similar lives but what similar vein connects them and how they have contributed to the shape of the world they inhabited.

The traditional concept of sect is one that is extremely important in the judgement of a planet and its ability to produce what it promises......

Quiet Respect for Angelina Jolie

In an article published on 14th May 2013 in New York Times entitled “My Medical Choice”, actress, producer, and UN ambassador for Goodwill, Angelina Jolie revealed that she had recently undergone  surgery to reduce her chances of contracting breast cancer by electing for preventative mastectomies.  The decision to remove both healthy breasts resulted after she found that she carries the BRCA1 gene and had an 87% chance of contracting breast cancer and a 50% risk of having ovarian cancer.

Brotherly Love

Katherine Hepburn was an iconic actor in the Hollywood firmament for more than 60 years. She appeared in a range of genres, from comedy to literary drama, and received four Academy Awards for Best Actress—a record for any performer.  Hepburn made her name and her reputation by being fiercely independent and famously shunned the Hollywood publicity machine.  She refused to conform to society's expectations of women and was outspoken, assertive, athletic, and wore trousers before it was fashionable for women to do so.  But few know exactly how much Hepburn’s life was impacted by one person and one event..

The International Court of Justice handed down a ruling at the end of March which stated  that Japan's Antarctic whaling program is not in accordance with certain sections of the International Convention for the Regulation of Whaling.  Such a momentous decision is a major outcome for a movement that started in Australia almost 40 years ago

"All the world's a stage,  And all the men and women merely players: They have their exits and their entrances; And one man in his time plays many parts,  His acts being seven ages."  Thus begins the character Jaque’s speech in Shakespeare’s famous play, As You Like It where he goes on to describe the different stages of human life from infancy to old age.

The “Joys of the Planets” and the “Planetary Joys” are two traditional planetary conditions that modern astrologers either ignore completely or those who practice traditional techniques may use, but with little or no understanding as to their origin and purpose.  What then are these planetary joys?
